Luis Barragan inspired design for a fantastic restaurant space at the heart of Dublin

MASA

Our brief was to completely renew and refesh an existing light filled restaurant unit on St Stephens Street lower, Dublin 2. The previous incarnation had been a well known establishment and the client wanted to forge a completely new and fresh identity for the Mexican inspired restaurant.

The client wanted a space that is both evocative of the food and country that inspires it without being too obvious. With that in mind we used the Mexican blue hues and pink of architect Luis Barragan, painted breeze block screens, palm planters and tiled walls were designed to give this taco restaurant it’s distinctive Baja feel.

All joinery including the blue steel bar and high tables were made bespoke despite a tight budget. Layering of wall planes, textures and colors create a bright, open and vibrant eating space.
