The Snug Townhouse

New concept for popular
Galway hostel

The Snug Townhouse

This project involved a complete re-think and new concept for an existing hostel which is located in three medieval buildings along Galway’s Quay Street. The client felt that the old layout of multi occupancy rooms is not workable for the times we live in. The building and interiors were also tired and the decor was dated with significant upgrading required on M&E, fire and services.

The re-design envisages 35 pod or cabin rooms suitable for one or two people. Everything that one expects in a hotel is cleverly designed into small but compact rooms. Quay street provides all the amenities on the doorstep. The design is inspired by overnight sleepers and boat cabins and the overall vibe is fun but low key. The reception area feels like an extension of the street or a small alleyway that you might come upon off Quay street.
